For the very first time, Kelham Island Museum will host an ice pad during their Christmas Market, bringing a real sense of fun to the festivities. The ice pad is a welcome addition to the action packed family entertainment programme which includes a Victorian style fairground with Gallopers and a Helter Skelter!
Gary Apsley, co director of the Scimitars said:
"The Sheffield Scimitars Ice Hockey Club is delighted to be working alongside Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust to promote the Kelham Island Christmas celebrations and hope that this year the events and activities are enjoyed by as many Sheffield people as possible.
"The Scimitars players and staff are always thrilled to be involved in community projects and especially initiatives that promote all that is good in and around Sheffield and its proud industrial heritage. "
Niki Connolly, Events and Marketing Officer, SIMT said:
"We are delighted that the Scimitars are coming to open the ice pad and then spend the day with our visitors. We are also very happy to have the ice pad on loan from iceSheffield, as it adds another fun element to our already exciting entertainment programme.
"We wanted to make this year's Christmas market better than ever, to celebrate not only its 18th year, but also the fantastic new look and fully refurbished museum".
The event runs over Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December and will feature over 80 stalls in and around the Museum.
