In the Museum
The exhibition galleries are stacked full of objects and photographs from our collections to examine,
watch moving, touch and listen to. We also have trails, colouring sheets and children's books for
our younger visitors, as well as puzzles and activities on steelmaking and life at home.

For visitors who wish to learn more about diverse aspects of Sheffield's history, we have two research
areas where you can sit and read about Workhouses, Religion, Leisure and histories of some of Sheffield's
most famous firms.
AudioVisual Show
The Sheffield Industrial Picture Show is an audiovisual presentation telling the story of the growth of
Sheffield. Showings are daily when the museum is open and are at times listed below.
Occasionally the area is out of use during special event days. Please ring beforehand for confirmation
if you wish to see the show.
Showing times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. (duration 17 minutes)
We regret to inform visitors that the Audio Visual Show is not operational at this time.
The Melting Shop
The Melting Shop is an interactive play zone suitable for children aged between 2 and 9. Children clock
in, are processed like steel, melted, rolled and hammered!
The Melting Shop is open to the public on Sundays and in Sheffield school holidays.
Groups need to book ahead for the Melting Shop – please contact the museum.
Scope
From 30 November 2005, the SCOPE Science Discovery Zone will be closed for refurbishment. Join us on
Science Sunday, 12 March 2006 for the reopening of this exciting activity area!
The Museum Gift Shop
The shop sells a wide range of books, maps, postcards souvenirs and gifts for all ages. There is also a

The Café at Kelham Island
Free access is available to the Café at Kelham Island.
