National Fairground Archive Resource Room
The National Fairground Archive is housed in the Western Bank Library, at the University of Sheffield. It is a unique collection covering the history of travelling fairgrounds and allied entertainments including the circus, sideshows and variety performers.
The Resource Room at the museum open in July 2009 and explores the involvement of entertainment in Sheffield’s leisure time and how the travelling fairs and circuses have developed alongside the city’s industry.

You can also discover how the decorative arts of the fairground have evolved to reflect the fashions within popular culture on a timeline display from 1850 - 2000.
