Go behind the scenes to experience the roar of the new River Don Engine boiler as it fires up to steam, hinting at the powerful forces behind the Industrial Revolution and power stations today.
Our new Power House viewing platform is located in the Transport Gallery.
The newly displayed River Don Engine gallery opens up the workings of the old boiler to reveal the secret life of the engine, from the story of armour plate to its place in the 20th century story of Britain, linking two world wars, nuclear power and the oil industry.
Part of the HLF funded project 'Sheffield 1916 - Steel, Steam and Power'.
See the River Don Engine in steam Mon - Thurs 12pm and 2pm and Sun 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
