Volunteering Opportunities with SIMT
Volunteering Opportunities with Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust
Sheffield Industrial Museums are the showcase of Sheffield’s industrial story from early industrialisation to modern times, where ‘Made in Sheffield’ remains a mark of craftsmanship and quality known worldwide.
Our three unique heritage sites and museums across Sheffield reveal more about the growth of the steel city.
Our Core Volunteering Opportunities:
- Visitor Services Volunteer
- Families Programme Volunteer
- Gardening Project
Welcoming visitors is an important role. Our visitor services volunteers’ opportunities are Monday to Thursday 10-1 and 1-4pm at Kellam Island Museum and Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. There is further opportunity to volunteer at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet on Sundays.
Volunteers support families in a creative art workshop inspired by our collection. Kelham Tots is once a month drop-in. In addition, during the school holidays volunteers support is needed.
The group meets for two hours once a week at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet where they manage the planting and up keep of the grounds and the Victorian Garden.
Volunteers have to opportunity to access training for their role and are invitatied to special events, tours and our social gatherings.
