Sheffield’s Industrial Museums tell the story of a great industrial city from the past to the present. Known by many as Steel City, Sheffield is famous for its steel, cutlery and toolmaking history, the quality of its products and the skills of its workers.

From early water-powered grinding wheels to the giant steelworks of Sheffield’s east end the workers, the inventions, the wealth and the poverty – you can explore it all at Kelham Island Museum, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet and Shepherd Wheel.

Important Notice

Kelham Island Museum suffered severe flood damage when the River Don burst its banks. Sadly the museum will be closed until further notice whilst the clean up and repairs are undertaken.

Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet is still open to visitors as normal.
