Visitor Services
This role is all about helping visitors get the most out of a visit to Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet: helping them find their way around, chatting to them and making them feel welcome, answering questions, telling them about the history and the stories of the site. You can choose to volunteer on various days - Monday to Thursday 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm. There may be additional opportunities to volunteer on Saturdays and Sundays.
Garden Project
Volunteers look after the Victorian Garden here at Abbeydale, planting various vegetables and flowers. This group also maintain some of the green areas on site and meet on Tuesdays 10am-12noon.
Family Programme
Volunteers support families in creative art workshops inspired by our collection, usually during school holidays and special events.
Hamlet Haberdashers
This is a textiles group with a variety of skills. Making quilts, rugs, dolls, cushions and costumes to bring the period houses to life and support the learning programme. Meet on Tuesdays.
Volunteer Information
Volunteers have the opportunity to access training for their role and are invited to special events, tours and social gatherings.
