Get Involved

At SIMT there are lots of ways to get involved with our activities.

The Trust offers opportunities for people to spend time at Kelham Island Museum or Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet as volunteers or on placements. This time can be part of training for work, school placements, college or university courses, or for people who have a personal interest or wish to contribute to the Trust's work. Voluntary activities and placements mainly concentrate on working with the curatorial or education staff, and a limited number of places are open.

Volunteering Opportunities 2011

We do regularly take on volunteers and placement students, however we are a small organisation and as such have a limited capacity for providing these opportunities.

Curatorial (Collections, Interpretation and Learning)

Currently, all of the volunteer opportunities within the Curatorial section are filled and we are not expecting to be able to offer any further volunteer oportunities in this area at the moment. We will post details of any future opportunities here, so please check back at a later date. Thank you.

SIMT Events

We are looking for people who would be interested in all aspects of event delivery at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet and Kelham Island Museum. There is a chance to be involved in areas such as marketing and promotions to stewarding and delivery of Living History activities.
