Planning a Group Visit
Activity Sessions

Bring your visit alive using one of our costumed Freelance Educators. Choose one of our themed sessions or mix and match the sessions for an inter-disciplinary approach.

The sessions can be booked for class groups and cover History, Science, Technology, Environment, Geography and English. Many of these sessions are closely linked to National Curriculum QCA units. They are aimed at Key Stages 1 or 2, but can be adapted to meet your needs. Sessions last from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the topic and your visit.

Price Guide: £40.00 per class group + £20 per group facilitator fee per session.

Habitats Explore the riverside environment and look at wildlife specimens KIM KS1

Materials Investigate artefacts from the past. What are they made from?(KS1/2)

Machines Investigate machines from the past. How do they work and with what power? KIM/AIH KS1 (+KS2)
Wheels Examine the forces and movement of, how they change direction and speed using gears KIM KS1
Mechanisms and Forces Investigate pushes, pulls, gears, pulleys and how they help machines to work KIM/AIH KS1/2
Electricity How has electricity changed our lives? Experiment with machines old and new KIM KS2
Forces and Energy Build and test a water wheel. Tour the site and discover its energy and forces AIH KS2

A full day of activities for 2 class groups.
£5.50 per child (£5.00 Sheffield LEA)
Fantastic Forces Explore toy making, practical investigations of waterwheels and friction, storytelling and forces in motion AIH KS1
Wheels and Machines Explore wheels, transport and machines in the museum. Find out about gears, levers, cranks and pulleys. KIM KS1/2
Victorian Toys and Homes Spend a full day as a Victorian child looking at how they lived and played. KIM KS1
Earth and Beyond Find out about gravity and the environment of the Moon and discover what living things need to survive. KIM KS2
Florence Nightingale Find out about historic Illness and industrial danger with Florence and her grandmother AIH KS1
