Recent Acquisitions

This year the Collections Management Centre at Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust has received over 190 individual objects. These have been donated to us to add to the growing collections that represent Sheffield’s industrial past.

The most recent objects deposited with the museum include photographic images from:
The Hardy Patent Pick Company, Little London Road, Sheffield,
Examples of Machinery produced by Davy United of machinery used at the Park Iron Works, Sheffield,
Images from Sheffield Forge Rolling Mill, Green Lane Works.

These images show the diversity of Sheffield works, processes, engineering skills and the people involved in these industries.

We have also received a number of small objects including tools, rasps, and files from the firm John Cooper and Sons Limited and William Charles and Company.

The Research Library is growing rapidly with the bequest of over 100 engineering books and journals. These books are a very useful resource for research.

Recent donations of archive material include catalogues and promotional material from Edgar Allen and Company Limited, Imperial Steel Works Sheffield and promotional material for Sheffield products such as Silver Fox Stainless Steel from Samuel Fox and Company Limited, Stocksbridge.
