Meet the Makers at Get Creative

Find out more about the exciting Sheffield Makers demonstrating at Get Creative on Sunday 22 October at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.

Meghan Downs Ceramics

“I make handmade ceramic artwork inspired by memories of places, featuring architectural illustrations and layered decoration. I have just moved in to my own studio at Yorkshire Artspace’s Persistence Works in the City Centre. My aim is to set up regular classes to teach people new skills using ceramics, using a range of hand building and decorating techniques that are reflected in my work. I will be offering weekday evening and Saturday courses, available to book in blocks or as one-off sessions. Come get your hands messy and play with an incredibly versatile and fun material - clay! Open to all abilities, I can help you to create your own works of art, but most of all come and enjoy yourself! Party bookings are also welcomed for small groups, children or adults. Upfront booking discount offer will be available, details provided at the event.”

Offering:  Regular Weekday Evening and Saturday morning short courses. One day hand building and decorating workshops. Birthday parties.

Demonstrating: I’ll be demonstrating how I make my ceramics, using a technique called slab-building. I will then demonstrate a range of slip decorating techniques once the pieces are made. See my finished items on display to understand the processes used and get your creative juices flowing!
