Happy birthday Abbeydale!
Posted on by Website Administrator
This year is a momentous year for Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. It marks the 50th anniversary of this internationally significant site being open to the public as a heritage museum. For fifty wonderful years, Abbeydale has welcomed visitors to discover, connect with and experience life at an 18th century scythe and steelworks – inviting audiences to be immersed in centuries of industrial innovation.
We had so many plans for celebrating this golden year at Abbeydale. Unfortunately, due to the current climate some of these have been cancelled (for now!)
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet opened as a museum on 30th April 1970.
We had planned a special birthday party but instead we'd like to share some memories from the past 50 years. This is a THANK YOU to all volunteers, staff and Abbeydale craftspeople both past and present.
We know we haven't included everyone so if you have any photos to add, we would love to see them! You can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
We hope you enjoy the film below and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
