Archaeology In Action Round Up

Posted on by Website Administrator

This week we have been joining in with the Festival of British Archaeology at Abbeydale. On Sunday the Hamlet was taken over by enthusiastic young archaeologists and local archaeology groups. The new Learning Centre provided an exciting new space with plenty of tea and cakes available in the café for refreshing tired diggers.

On Wednesday, our Community Participation Officer Nell led an archaeology-themed creative writing class for adults. Nell equipped the group with the question “What’s been left behind?” and then sent them out to explore the site. Some of the group’s work will be posted on our website in the next few weeks.

Here are some comments from the writers:

“Excellent day – would love to do another day sometime”

“Everything! So well set up by Nell, inspiration and space to develop our own pieces of writing. Delicious to be able to walk round and observe.”

“The place, the history and the opportunity to write about it”
