Access Information for Abbeydale Hamlet Museum
Mobility access
Abbeydale is a working site and therefore has rough and uneven surfaces, and many
areas are only accessible by steps. The works gallery contains information about
the whole site and has level access.
Toilets
There are male and female toilets beside the car park, and an accessible toilet
next to the café.
Baby changing facilities
There is a changing mat in the accessible toilet next to the café.
Braille
Some text relating to objects on display is provided in Braille.
Audio
There is a free audio guide available in the shop.
Guide and assistance dogs
Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.
Café
The museum café is at the entrance to the site and has level access.
Parking
There is parking for 30 vehicles, 10 of these immediately opposite the café.
Touching objects
Many of the objects on display are working machines and can cause injury to the
visitor if touched, others may suffer damage if touched. The works gallery contains
objects that can be touched and these are clearly marked, other objects on the rest
of the site should not be touched.
