Consultant Support Collections Management System Review
In April 2021 Museums Sheffield and Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust are merging to become Sheffield Museums. This merger unites Sheffield’s collections and offers a fantastic opportunity to tell new stories and engage more people with their collections. In order to maximise the potential of these collections it is essential that we have an effective Collections Management System (CMS) which meets the needs of our diverse collections and brings together all the data into one system. We would also like to explore different options for the interface between our CMS and the online collections function in order to offer more intuitive and meaningful engagement with Sheffield’s collections online.
Museums Sheffield has secured funding from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund to recruit a consultant to review our current Collection Management System and its online capabilities, in order to make recommendations and maximize opportunities for the new Trust.
The fee for this work is £5,000.
Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 18 January 2021 with virtual interviews taking place that week. The commissions will be complete by the end of March 2021.

Consultant support for schools programme
Museums Sheffield has secured funding from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund to commission two consultants/organisations with specialist knowledge to stretch our thinking and support us in our work with schools. From 1 April 2021 Museums Sheffield will join with Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust to form Sheffield Museums Trust and we plan to launch a re-energised schools offer in Summer 2021. We plan to create an inclusive and broad ranging schools offer that uses Sheffield’s museums collections to create enjoyable and informative learning experiences.
The first commission will stretch our thinking and support us to improve our approach to inclusivity and representation in the content of our schools programme. There is £5,000 fee available for this work.

The second commission will help us re-engage with schools after the Covid pandemic considering content and the most effective ways in which we can deliver the programme. The fee for this work is £10,000.
