Abbeydale Learning Centre wins Building Excellence Award!

Abbeydale Learning Centre wins Building Excellence Award!

The new Learning Centre at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet has been awarded the “Building Excellence Award” for the Best Community Project in the South Yorkshire and Humber region.

Each year the 7 Local Authority Building Control departments covering this area organise the awards to promote the excellence of building within the region.  The 8th annual ceremony was held on 7th May at Forest Pines Golf and Country Club, North Lincolnshire.  Builders, architects, applicants and other contractors, along with the authorities attend this special occasion awarding those who have contributed greatly to the area and the building industry.

Builders undertaking projects in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield, Hull, and North & North East Lincolnshire were eligible to take part in the Building Control Awards Scheme.  Any size of project for which the Local Authority provides the Building Control Service from new homes, extensions and alterations through to commercial developments had the opportunity to scoop an award.  The winners demonstrated an organisations commitment to quality and sustainable construction, recognised throughout Local Authority Building Control and the construction industry.

The Learning Centre was designed by Windle Cooke Architects as part of the three year £1 million Heritage Lottery Fund project to develop and restore Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.
