Now a Grade 1 Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument, 'Abbeydale Works' was once a main producer of agricultural scythe and edge tools, such as grass hooks and hay knives, and one of the largest water powered industrial sites on the River Sheaf.
See worker's houses, waterwheels, tilit hammers, a grinding hull and workshops and the only intact crucible steel furnance surviving in the world today!
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet has recently been awarded £1million Heritage Lottery Funding for restoration of the site from April 2013. Click here to find out more about the project and the hamlet's future.
